Principle of operation
ELECTRONIC METER FOR LIQUIDS WITH LOW REFLECTIVITY – TECFLUID LTDR
The LTDR level transmitter uses TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) technology.
Low-energy, high-frequency electromagnetic pulses, generated by an electronic circuit, are propagated along a probe that is immersed in a liquid. When these impulses reach the surface of the liquid, part of the impulse energy is reflected and returns to the electronic circuit, which calculates the fluid level from the time difference between the impulse sent and the received one. The sensor analyzes the signal and converts it into a continuous level measurement via its analog output, or into a programmable switching signal at a point on the probe. TDR sensors are also known as guided radar devices.
